The Westport Fishermen’s Association is pleased to announce three 2016 recipients of $500 scholarships for undergraduate college expenses beyond freshman year. Dalton Bryant of Westport is a senior at Brown University, majoring in International Relations. He hopes to promote conservation in the field of transportation or alternative energy. Westport native Melinda Tripp will be a junior at UMass Dartmouth, where she is majoring in Marketing. She has worked at the Business Innovation Research Center which helped plan UMass Dartmouth’s Green Innovations Day to promote elimination of waste in the environment. Andrew Ronan, also a rising junior from Westport, has been getting a hands on environmental education in arboriculture at Paul Smith College in the Adirondack Mountains and is continuing on for a Bachelor’s degree in Parks, Recreation and Facilities Management. The WFA applauds these college students for their academic excellence and interest in environmental protection.

This traditional event at the Little Compton Game Club is a great opportunity to catch up with WFA members and friends. You can play some family games (corn hole, horseshoes, bocce and more) and check out the latest data from our salt marsh study while the bake cooks. Clam chowder is served at noon, followed by the classic seaweed and rock bake at 2 pm.
