Classic Wooden Boat Show

2018 – NO Wooden Boat show this year

The WFA Board of Directors has decided not to host the classic wooden boat show in 2018, but we hope it will come back in future years.

2017 boat show  – Held on October 14 & 15

Despite soggy weather on Saturday and only a short peak of sunshine on Sunday, this year’s wooden boat show was still a hit with enthusiasts checking out this year’s crop of wooden boats all weekend long.  And everyone lined up for Don’s famous chowder, which was a sellout both days! On Sunday, a hardy crew of Dharma Voyage rowers demonstrated their skills. The donated Fred Hart skiff that had been restored by the WFA was sold to Stephen Fletcher.  We then wrapped up with the “Best in Show” award going to Trip & Dora Millikin for their dory.

A steady steam of visitors checked out over three dozen wooden boats and models all weekend long. They voted for their favorites and after a tight race, with the tie breaking vote coming in at the last minute, Ted Franklin won “Best in Show” for his beautifully restored Cat’s Paw dinghy.

Reid Schwartz won “Favorite Model Boat” for his birch bark canoe. img_20161016_153704
